Not detecting AngelBox

Problem => There is a connection problem between AngelBox and Angelcam.
Solution => Check the LEDs on the device to make sure they are working properly.

One possible reason why AngelBox is not being detected is that it has been powered on for an extended period before being attached to the Angelcam platform.

To resolve this, we recommend rebooting or power cycling the AngelBox a few minutes before attempting to add it. Simply unplug it from the power source, wait a few minutes, and plug it back in. Ensure that the device shows lights, and then proceed to add it to the Angelcam platform.

Refer to the following articles:

Not detecting any cameras

Problem => Angelbox couldn’t establish a connection to your camera.
Solution => Try using a switch instead of a router only and make sure that your network components don’t filter the communication. Then, refer to AngelBox prerequisites.

Not detecting stream

Problem => Your device might not be supported.
Solution => Please try to enter the RTSP address manually. Read more in the article RTSP addresses for NVR/DVRs and RTSP address explanation.

Stream not connecting

Problem => Not enough bandwidth.
Solution =>  If the “...” symbol seems to take a very long time or there is an “error,” it can sometimes be because there is not enough bandwidth. Isolate, run speed test. Read the following article.

Error message instead of a video

Problem => Problem with connecting to the camera
Solution => Check the error code description. If it doesn’t help, try using a manual RTSP address - read more in the article.

Not accepting password

Problem => Usually, a wrong RTSP address
Solution => Please enter the RTSP address manually. In some rare cases, the camera might use different credentials to access the stream. In that case, please refer to your camera's user manual or check this article.

Gaps in recording

Problem => Not enough bandwidth
Solution => See our article Recommended streaming setting when experiencing issues or when getting keyframe interval too high error or contact your IPS provider for higher upload speed.

Slow Internet

Problem => Consuming too much bandwidth
Solution => See our article Recommended streaming setting when experiencing issues or when getting keyframe interval too high error or contact your IPS provider for higher upload speed.

If your camera isn’t being detected by AngelBox, the issue is usually related to camera codec compatibility or network configuration.

Common Causes & Fixes

Codec Settings

  • AngelBox requires cameras to use the H.264 codec.

  • The H.265 codec is not supported, and cameras may revert to it after firmware updates.

  • Check your camera settings and switch back to H.264 if needed.

Network Configuration

  • Ensure both the camera and AngelBox are set to DHCP (dynamic IP). Static IPs can cause detection issues.

  • Confirm that all devices are on the same local network and subnet.

  • Restart your router and camera to refresh network connections.

  • Make sure your network has sufficient bandwidth to support video streaming.

  • Open the required ports on your router/firewall:

    • Inbound Ports: 554, 88, 81, 555, 7447, 8554, 7070, 10554, 80, 8080, 8081, 8090

    • Outbound Ports: 8900, 8901

  • Allow AngelBox to connect to Angelcam’s service endpoints. You can find the full IP whitelist and streaming server list in Angelcam’s documentation.

RTSP Stream Path

  • Some cameras may require manual stream setup using their RTSP URL.

  • You can usually find this path in your camera or NVR settings.

  • Ensure the stream is configured for H.264 over RTSP.

NVR Configuration

If you're using an NVR (e.g., TP-Link)

  • AngelBox will detect the NVR’s IP address, not the individual cameras.

  • Set the NVR to DHCP mode.

  • Retrieve the RTSP stream path from the NVR settings and manually add it to AngelBox.

  • Confirm that both the NVR and cameras are using H.264 codec and RTSP protocol.

✅ Next Steps

If your camera still isn’t detected:

  • Check Angelcam’s documentation to confirm your camera model is compatible with AngelBox.

  • Make sure there are no firmware issues or hardware malfunctions.

  • Restart your router, AngelBox, and camera to refresh connections and eliminate temporary network glitches.
