In this guide we’re going to briefly go over the steps involved in logging into your router and changing the port forwarding settings. Please note, if you need to forward ports on multiple cameras, use this guide instead.
To get started, log into your router. If you need help doing so, check out our handy guide.
Next, find the port forwarding section in your router’s admin page (this could be titled: Virtual server, NAT, or Firewall)
Once there, you’ll have to create a new entry and put in the following:
Name - choose your own, for example, "my camera"
Protocol - TCP and UDP or BOTH or ANY
IP Address - enter the local IP address of your camera (i.e. "192.168.1.12"). If you need help finding your IP address, check out our guide.
Local port - Use “554” for h264 cameras and “80” for MJPEG cameras. When asked for a port range, use “554-554” or “80-80” (when not using the default configuration, feel free to use a custom port).

5. Lastly, to see if the port is open, test your router on this page
Be aware, if you have more routers or modems on your network, you’ll need to configure port forwarding on all of them. Also, in many cases, you’ll find that your public IP changes, in which case, consider using either our AngelBox or a Dynamic DNS service.
