You know how websites and services use digital certificates to keep connections secure?

We're updating our root certificate for Angelcam Connector services (e. g. software that runs in AngelBox, AngelCamera One, Axis cameras and others). The current certificate is going to expire on March 2, 2025, and we'll be switching our infrastructure to a new root certificate on February 24, 2025.

Devices that are not updated by February 24, 2025 won't be able to connect to Angelcam Cloud anymore. The new certificate will be valid until 18 April, 2044

Update instructions

The following instructions are for users who need to update their devices before February 24, 2025 to keep them operational. While the update can be implemented after this date, we strongly recommend completing it as soon as possible.

Axis cameras

A manual update is necessary.

Go to https://help.angelcam.com/en/articles/2666229-how-to-make-axis-camera-angelcam-powered, download the latest Angelcam Connector package for your model of Axis camera(s) and install it.

Restart the camera.

Retain the previous version of the Connector prior to upgrading, as it will be automatically replaced by the new version during the process.

Axis speakers

A manual update is necessary.

Go to https://help.angelcam.com/en/articles/6518105-how-to-install-network-axis-speaker, download the latest Angelcam Connector package for your speaker and install it.

Restart the speaker.

Retain the previous version of the Connector prior to upgrading, as it will be automatically replaced by the new version during the process.

AngelCamera One

A manual update is necessary.

Go to the camera settings at https://my.angelcam.com/arrow/devices/, click on update and accept the changes to update the camera. You can take a look at all the thing that are improved.

Use the browser-based mobile or desktop version of the website. Do not use the app from app stores for the update.

AngelBoxes purchased from Angelcam

Most of the AngelBoxes have been already updated automatically.

There are a few exceptions:

  1. AngelBoxes that haven't received the update yet because they are offline. Update will be applied automatically once a device will be simple turned on, connected to the Internet for at least 24 hours.

  2. AngelBoxes that are online but haven't been updated for some reason. Please, contact our support at support@angelcam.com or call +1 (415) 767 0758 and we'll send you a replacement SD card.

2N

We can't create an update as the integration was discontinued. Please reach our support at support@angelcam.com, you are eligible for 30% discount on AngelBox.

Hikvision

We have dropped Angelcam Connector support for Hikvision cameras long time ago, because we haven’t found a way how to make our partnership trustable and integrations reliable.

A manual update is necessary.

Our suggestions is to acquire AngelBox for the connection. Please reach our support at support@angelcam.com or call +1 (415) 767 0758, you are eligible for 30% discount on AngelBox.

We have created updated packages but they should be considered best-effort-only. We can't properly test all models so we can't really assess the reliability.

Download one of the following Angelcam Connector packages depending on your camera hardware platform and install it to your camera. Please note that Angelcam Connector for Hikvision cameras is no longer supported and we provide these updated packages as best effort only. We no longer have the necessary HW to test them.

Ubiquiti Edge Routers

A manual update is necessary.

Log in to your device via SSH and update the packages using:

sudo apt-get update

sudo apt-get upgrade

DIY AngelBoxes

Most of the AngelBoxes have been already updated automatically.

There are some DIY AngelBoxes that haven't been updated automatically, either a customer disabled the automatic updates or they did not install the update script.

A manual update is necessary.

If you own a DIY AngelBox (created either from our firmware image or installed from our APT repository), log in to your device using SSH and update it:

sudo apt-get update

sudo apt-get upgrade

Other custom builds and installations

A manual update is necessary.

You'll need to use the latest version of Angelcam Arrow Client along with the two root certificates in the repository. Follow the instructions at https://github.com/angelcam/arrow-client
